FedEx has an annual revenue of $87.9 billion. Next year, annual revenue will be even higher due to FedEx’s annual general rate increase. The 2026 FedEx General Rate Increase will go into effect on January 5, 2026. Even though the headline increase is “only” 5.9%, the effective increase you experience may be much higher, depending on how the surcharges affect your shipment mix (zones, weight, residential vs. commercial, oversized, etc.).

The chart above illustrates the 2026 FedEx price increase over the 2025 published rates for each domestic service. The most significant increases are Priority Overnight and Ground packages. The increase is close to 7%.
Express Saver shipments have the lowest increase. But we see very few of these shipments from our customers. Express Saver delivers to businesses by 4:30 p.m. and to residences by 8 p.m. in three business days. Some eCommerce sellers use Express Saver to meet the demands of today’s online buyers. The Amazonification of buyers’ decisions fuels the shift from Ground to Express.
Key Things to Know
- The minimum charge for FedEx Ground is rising from $11.32 → $11.99, a 7.4% jump.
- The Residential Delivery Surcharge for Ground and Home Delivery will increase by 8.4%.
- Delivery Area Surcharge (Residential) for U.S. package services will increase from $6.20 to $6.60.
- The oversized charge for Home Delivery in specific zones is increasing to $330.
- The additional handling charge for Home Delivery in specific zones is rising to $58.75.
- A cubic volume criterion for the Additional Handling Surcharge — Dimension, and both a cubic volume and a weight criterion for the Oversize Charge, will start in 2026.
FedEx Ground & Home Delivery 2026 Rate Increases

FedEx Home Delivery has identical rates as FedEx Ground packages. But there is an additional charge since the final delivery is to a residence. Therefore, Home Delivery packages are billed as if they were Ground packages, but will see an extra $6.45 residential surcharge.

FedEx Express Rate Increases
The chart below shows the average price increase for all zones and weights for each Express domestic service. As you can see, the increases for the Second Day and Express Saver packages are the highest.

As shown in all the charts, FedEx 2-day and Priority Overnight have the highest 2026 FedEx Rate Increase. The increase mimics the higher zone increases for Ground and Home Delivery packages.
FedEx Minimum Charges

Rising minimum charges mean even your lighter-weight packages (if previously negotiated discounts were pushing them below the new minimum) could see rate floor hits.
Other 2026 FedEx Changes
There will be modifications to the assessment standards for the FedEx Additional Handling Surcharge — Dimension and Oversize Charge. This change will add a cubic volume criterion to Additional Handling Surcharge — Dimension, and both a cubic volume and a weight standard to Oversize Charge, in addition to existing criteria. With these changes:
- Additional Handling Surcharge – Dimension will apply to any parcel with a cubic volume greater than 10,368 cubic inches (cubic volume = length x width x height)
- Oversize Charge will apply to any parcel with a cubic volume greater than 17,280 cubic inches (cubic volume = length x width x height)
- Oversize Charge will apply to any parcel that has an actual weight greater than 110 lbs.
Minimize the Impact of the 2026 FedEx General Rate Increase
Most companies will willingly accept the 2026 FedEx General Rate Increase (GRI). They shift the additional logistics expenses to the client. This prompts potential buyers to abandon their shopping carts due to excessive shipping costs. Therefore, FedEx users need to address price increases head-on.
