Shipping Firearms with FedEx

By Last updated on: June 19, 2023

Shipping firearms today is difficult; shipping firearms with FedEx is more accessible than shipping them via UPS. This blog is to help with shipping, but if you have additional questions, it is best to contact FedEx directly.

Shipping Firearms with FedEx Express

Only customers maintaining a Federal Firearms License (FFL) and federal, state, or local government agencies can ship firearms with FedEx. Shippers with an FFL must enter an approved FedEx Firearms Shipping Compliance Agreement before shipping with FedEx. Contact your FedEx account executive for more information.

On behalf of customers holding an FFL who enter into an approved compliance agreement and federal, state, or local government agencies, FedEx Express will transport and deliver firearms. Shippers can ship modern firearms, antique firearms, and replica firearms, all as defined by the United States Gun Control Act of 1968. Additionally, shippers can send muzzleloaders and black powder firearms. Shipments containing firearms must have an Adult Signature Required or the Direct Signature Required Delivery Signature Option.

FedEx Express Ammunition Shipping

FedEx Express will transport ammunition if packed and labeled in compliance with local, state, and federal law and the Dangerous Goods section of the FedEx Service Guide.

Ammunition is an explosive and must be shipped separately as dangerous goods. Shippers cannot ship loaded firearms or firearms with ammunition in the same package.
